I started losing hair around the age of 26-27. Prior to that I had a full head of hair and never imagined that I would start losing hair at that age. But I had a several throat infection around that time and the doctor just put me on antibiotics one after the other. I was on strong antibiotics for 3-4 months. Plus the water where I was living was extremely saline and did mess up my hair real bad...I noticed hair falling off everyday in the shower but never gave it a thought...Thats the thing about hair loss...you do not realize that you are noticeably losing hair until you have lost 50% of it. Fast forward 6 months and I started losing hair alarmingly - which in fact was telogen effluvium at work in response to the shock my system had from that antibiotic treatment.
I researched and fretted about it, thought it would all come back but what was gone was gone.In talking to Dr. Konior I learned sometimes telogen effluvium can initiate the onset of androgenetic alopecia...So something that was supposed to happen at maybe 45 started happening at 26...tough luck ;) My father has had a full head of hair until he was 55-60 but my grandfather from my mom's side was bald early in his age so maybe the genes came from the mom's side...Whatever losing your hair is a big time dampener....
I still had decent coverage but then I had to start using hair concealers to hide my hair loss...For some years it worked but then hair loss can never be completely reversed...You can slow it, halt it for a year or two but the nemesis never lets its foot off the pedal...So eventually I battled it out for 8 years before I decided to go in for a hair transplant. I am 35 now and my hair loss has stabilized for the last year or so....I could no longer rely on concelaers so had to go under the knife ;)

My Non Surgical TreatmentsI did try some non-surgical treatments to treat my hair loss but I never really followed a strict regimen. The only exception was when I tried Procerin for some considerable time (3-4 months) It didn't produce any noticeable difference for me..
Propecia was a definite no-no because of the potential side effects....Its ok to lose hair (which is just protein like nails) rather than trying something that changes some internal hormonal structure in your body....For the past 4-5 years I have been pretty much a slave to Toppik but I wanted to free myself from those shackles.....
