Procedure detail
FUT/FUE performed on a 34 year old Caucasian male with:
- NW II-III Class N
- Donor density of 80-90 FU/cm2
- Hair diameter of ~ 90 microns
Treatment plan – 1st procedure:
A Follicular Unit Strip Transplantation with 1500-2000FU to restore the entire hairline;
A medical therapy with finasteride to stabilize the hair loss in the crown area.
1st performed procedure (March 31st, 2008):
A Follicular Unit Strip Transplantation with 2003 FU
* 899 single hair FU
* 1104 double hair FU
Trichophytic Closure technique in double layer suture;
Parallel incisions in custom-sized blades technique (~Cutting Edge blades of 0.85mm – 0.95mm).
Treatment plan – 2nd procedure:
The patient was not completely satisfied with the density in the hairline and I was not really happy with the natural appearance of the hairline due to the patient’s hair diameter.
Therefore a Follicular Unit Extraction with 1200-1400 FU was planned to slightly lower the existing hairline, to add density and to add fine single hairs to the hairline (‘cherry picking’). We also decided to correct the existing linear scar with 200 FU.
2nd performed procedure (January 31st, 2011):
A Follicular Unit Extraction with 1441 FU
* 645 fine single hair FU
* 796 double hair FU
* No triple hair FU
Microscopic preparation of the single and double hair FU was carried out;
Parallel incisions in custom-sized blades technique (~Cutting Edge blades of 0.80mm – 0.90mm).
