Procedure detail

Follicular Unit Transplantation performed on a 41 year old Caucasian male with:

- NW IIIa beginning vertex, class N
- Donor density of 96 FU/cm2
- Hair diameter of ~ 65 microns

Treatment plan:

A FUE procedure with 2000 FU to reconstruct the hair line and central core

1st Performed procedure (March 15th, 2010):
A Follicular Unit Extraction with 2004 FU in a single day session
* 654 single hair FU
* 1350 double hair FU

Extraction performed with a 0.85mm FUE punch with Versi handle™. No microscopic preparation of the follicular unit grafts;
Parallel incisions (single and double units) were made in custom-sized blades technique (~Cutting Edge blades of 0.75mm – 0.8mm).

2nd Performed procedure (January 12th , 2011):
A Follicular Unit Extraction with 1557 FU in a single day session
* 534 single hair FU
* 1023 double hair FU

Extraction performed with a 0.9mm FUE punch with Versi handle™. No microscopic preparation of the follicular unit grafts;
Parallel incisions (single and double units) were made in custom-sized blades technique (~Cutting Edge blades of 0.7mm – 0.85mm).

The Norwood Class A patterns are characterized by a predominantly front to back progression of hair loss. These patterns lack the connecting bridge across the top of the scalp and generally have more limited hair loss in the crown, even when advanced.
